Flowers offering pleasure today

I’ve been confined to barracks for the last 3 days with a tummy bug. The flowers I could see from the kitchen window brightened my day. So as this is likely to be my last day off work I thought I’d share them with you.

At the base of the beech tree this clump of white pink speckled hellebores.

Just to the left of the hellebores are these winter aconites. Such a beacon in the dark shade and grey skies.

Moving forward to the revamped conifer bed I could see specks of pink amongst the beech leaves: Cyclamen coum.

Intermingled with the cyclamen are Iris histroides ‘Katherine Hodgkin’.

The Leucothoe is still looking good.

Moving to the rockery I have 2 different Iris in flower.
I. histroides ‘Lady Beatrix Stanley’

I. reticulata ‘Pixie’

The only other pretty flowers I can see are Violas in the wall manger next to the dining room window. I took the photo through the open window in a lull in the rain. Such happy little faces.

Hope these lift your spirits as much as they lift mine.

Hi Sbg, glad you're feeling a lot better, I think a tummy bug is 1 of the worst things to get, especially as you don't know where it came from, and even though they tend to clear up pretty quickly, it seems never ending whilst you have it, lovely photo's, Derek.

It's been 'one of those days' so your blog and photos have given me a needy lift.
Thanks, Seaburn!
Hope the bug you caught is the 48hr variety, so you'll recover quickly!

Back to normal and I've been busy tidying up and pottering in the greenhouse. There has been blue sky most of the day but such strong winds. I decided to come in at about 3.30 as I was getting worried about branches blowing off the trees into the glass.

Glad to hear that you are now back to your usual self. :-))

All those photos of the plants flowering are very cheering indeed! I like Irises & Cyclamen. The Violas, with their cheery little faces, are capable of cheering anybody up! I have quite a few on my balcony this year & they look very nice indeed! I'm so pleased I got them!
