conservatory phase 3

Well it is all finished now. We are just waiting for the correct furniture. OH and I couldn’t find any 3 seater cane furniture and all the 2 seater ones creaked and groaned when either of us moved around. In the end we have gone for bespoke furniture. Our anniversary/birthday/Christmas present to each other.

Plastic chairs as we finish off the tiling. Oh such sore knees now

We have put the outdoor cast iron seats in temporarily and one of the leather armchairs from the lounge.

The pond plants need cutting back and an area of Yellow flag iris will have to be resited in the pond so the view is not obscured

From the windows I can see the Tryctis in full flower without even getting wet.

Did you spot the red dragon in the Camellia? It has certainly been rampant this year.

All we need now is some nice sunny weather so we can sit and relax in there.
Oh and no chores to do.
Wait I spot shiny wings, a curly tail….
its that flying pig again :o)

looks lovely SB, you're going to get so much pleasure from sitting in there surveying your lovely garden in all seasons.

I hope so Bellflower. Though I would always want to be out weeding if I could spot any [that should be many:o)]

What a beautiful conservatory and it will be a lovely place to relax once you've got your furnishings in place...they sound pretty special too :)

Roll on sunshine eh? :)

Looks fantastic SB. If you put some heating in there you won't need the rest of your house.... it will be the best place to be.

Absolutely fabulous SBG you'll soon be wondering how you managed without one. You'd better get sturdy furnishings in there as you'll be practically living in it, congratulations, it's perfect. I do like your floor tiles but the I would say that as I have the same ones all through the cottage.

Looking good :o)

I agree with Heron - you'll live in there! Ours is called a 'garden room' because it has a tiled roof, but it's like yours in that it has garden all round to 'view' from the windows. I love that - and seeing birds on a near-by bird table, too. :-))))

One thing more - ask the family to get you a weather station - a remote one - I find mine invaluble.

I think it looks very nice, hope you enjoy it.

21 Nov, 2010

that is truly beautiful, and looking out onto a pond will be fantastic ~ doubt you will ever leave your seat ~once you get it!!
conservatories are nice in or out of the sun ~ lots of room for plants too??

21 Nov, 2010

21 Nov, 2010

That looks great Sbg,you will wonder how you lived without it, before long..we love ours..Lovely views of your garden too..:o)

thanks for all the lovely comments. I am 'allowed' a few plants and he is allowed a few vintage bike pieces :o)

We put a branch off the central heating system and sockets for various bits and bobs. Lighting is non electric and there isnt a trelly either. Victorian lamps too. OH is a bit of a squirreller:o) I have an aspidistra to fit into a coner so that will look good.

21 Nov, 2010

Oh SBG....It's marvellous. I'd spend all my time in there. Lucky you. :o)

21 Nov, 2010

you could grow a climber all round the vintage bike?

21 Nov, 2010

oh that looks lovely SBG,i am soo jealous...somewhere nice to relax..:o)

21 Nov, 2010

It's very nice. You'll probably spend a lot of time in there :o)

21 Nov, 2010

Your garden looks lovely Sbg, and as for your conservatory...I`m so envious! :o)

21 Nov, 2010

if the bike is still there next month it will get the tinsel treatment!

Really looking forward to spending time in there. but who'll do all the ironing etc?

21 Nov, 2010

Maybe you could do some delegation instead of doing the ironing :D

22 Nov, 2010

that sounds a good idea hywel
im looking enviously at your conservatory now ~ our lounge extension ~ with lots of windows should have been finished by now but its not even started!!!

22 Nov, 2010

On further consideration....I'm on my way over. I'm coming to live in your conservatory for the winter. OK? :o)))

22 Nov, 2010

rent free if you do the ironing etc. Gilli
delegate to the kids Hywel? mmmm do i want iron holes burnt into the back of the shirts? probably not :o)
Actually eldest is quite good but she has other chores to do too so its a bit unfair to expect her to do much more.

the rain sounded horrendous, drumming off the roof this morning though.

22 Nov, 2010

No I mean delegate to your husband lol :o)
Anyway I used to do my own ironing when I was a teenager ! So why not your teenagers ?

22 Nov, 2010

I think you'd be better off having your kids iron than me SBG. I'm terrible at it. I'll wash the conservatory windows for you though.

23 Nov, 2010

OH has other delegated duties Hywel and the girls also have their own respective jobs. I have the main task of washing/ironing and the general dusting. Cooking is a shared task by all of us, though OH & I do the most. both girls cook at least once a week. All my jobs stop me gardening etc. :o(

23 Nov, 2010

That's a shame. I never had any 'jobs' to do but I always insisted on ironing my own shirts. I didn't like the way my mother did them lol - I'm fussy you see :o(

23 Nov, 2010

no not fussy. I hated the way my mum ironed some of my things too :o)

23 Nov, 2010

lol ;o)

23 Nov, 2010

I suppose you could do the ironing in the conservatory? Perhaps not. Dont forget to take some pictures from there in the spring for us.

Its a lovely addition to your home SBG and I am sure you will love it :)

How's your conservatory in this cold snowy weather ?
Cosy and warm ?

2 Dec, 2010

not too chilly as we did put heating in, though the snow has piled up by the door. The icicles are fantastic too. Also a bit closer to the feeders so have enjoyed watching blue/great and longtailed tits as well as a couple of blackbirds stripping the pyracantha. There are a few dunnocks and a robin too that frequent the area.
neighbours cats are a bit of a pain and we can now see their chosen path to the bushes to hide in. So that will be altered in the spring.

How lovely your conservatory is ,its very much like ours its great in the spring and summer but like an icebox at the moment as we don't have heating in there ,Like yours we can see all round our garden from the windows .We have only had ours for just over a year so its still a novety .Best wishes for Christmas Seaburngirl
