Today the sun was shining!!!!

Me and my eldest daughter Rosie headed to the beach.

It been so windy of late and with rough seas the beach is covered in debris. There will be a major beach clean for local volunteers in a couple of weeks 100s turned up last year. But we enjoyed picking some of it up today whilst looking for beach treasure.

We were quite pleased with our little haul some of which we brought home to use is craft projects.

The rubbish is mainly fishing debris like this pile of fishing line.

hundreds of bits of fishing net

So much wild life gets injured by this sort of rubbish its such a major problem. But it always amazes me how nature takes advantage sometimes..

these absolutely stank!!!! but they look amazing…

and these look ALIEN!

I love the stones on the beach especially these ones

something very therapeutic about piling stones up!!

this is where all the flood water from our valley reaches the sea the noise was amazing.

Hope you enjoyed our visit to the beach.

Isn't it amazing how nature tries to clean up the mess we make? Love your stone sculptures. What a bracing day you had and useful too, can't be bad☺

Just being by the sea , especially with rocks and sealife it, well .....refreshes your soul, the restless energy and everchanging colours and shapes, I can just stand there.....

Thanks Sandra a breath of sea air xxx

Well done you two! Untangling string from seaweed isn't easy. Its a pain when you want to collect the seaweed for fertiliser - we should get together, you can have the string and I'll have the seaweed???? (No, I thought not!)

you are on Stera I love a challenge... i spent the afternoon in the tunnel untangling the pile in the black crate. love making things with all the rope we get off the beach and it helps with the clear up.

Pam I dont get down there often enough but it realy did refresh us both.

Waddy it was very windy but we were well wrapped, it was so nice to see some sunshine.

I love the sea when it's rough - much more interesting than calm and boring lol ...
What a lot of rubbish you found :( It's very bad for wildlife ...
I've never seen goose barnacles in real life. You were lucky to find them.

is that what they were Hywel...they look alien!!!

I only go there in the winter...too busy in summer. We can see the car park through binoculars so always check the car park first.

I loved that Sandra......I could almost hear the sound of those crashing waves and fresh sea air, what a cheer up it is! I'd be down there every day beach combing. Perfect, then home to baby Myla........fabulous!

I do feel guilty some times that i don't go there more often. but I can just about hear it from the garden. I used to go all the time when the kids were young..but they hated having to help me carry big nets off the beach...lol

isn't nature amazing how it hitches a ride.
the goose barnacles will have been growing on there for about 5 yrs so they are well established.

I miss the beach.

Never seen goose barnacles on our beaches, we should visit the beach more than we do, especially as it is only 5 mins away......Lol..unfortunately my knees are not up to it at the moment.....
Interesting find, and a good tidy up at the same time, lovely blog Sandra...

i found out today that the goose barnacles die if they are out of the water too long. which would explain the bad smell...
