i havent noticed this before because of all the ivy which was there, but after digging our trees up and pulling ivy, alot died and guess this was behind, cant see any on neighbours side though because they have cyprus trees, hope it continues to grow over ;o)

thanx cinders yes your right it mottled leaf and not quite as dark as licorice, they just add some lovely colour amongst all the plants ;o))
