A walk round my garden!

I thought it was about time I had a good look round my garden.
It has been so wet lately and couldn’t do anything.
I was quite surprised how everything had come on and every time I think it’s going to be a dry day, it rains!

These daffs get better every year!

This is the first time I had put crocuses in this year and was pleased with the result until it rained !!

Always reliable!

I don’t know why there aren’t any flowers on my cyclamon yet!

One lonely little snowdrop!

Early Doronicum

The Euphorbias haven’t flowered so well this year.

I love the Sarcococca for it’s perfume but it keeps getting swamped by a choisya.
I have to keep cutting the side back on it so that the Sarcococca can see the light.
I should move one of them, but haven’t got a spare place in the garden.
I just keep buying those plants! I can’t resist! lol

This yellow Erysimum has been in the border a few years now but is a bit leggy.
Should I cut it back, do you think? The stems have gone really woody.
Well..that’s my exercise for the day! lol
Don’t worry, it will stop raining soon, said she, fingers crossed!
Take care my friends and keep dry.

A lovely walk around your garden, Rose! 👍 You have so much in flower! The Daffs & Crocuses look lovely! 👍

I share your frustration with the rain, Rose. I ignored the warning about treading on sopping clay borders over the last few days as I was desperate to cut things back. Now the borders are covered in flattening footprints. You can't win!
I like your plants, very cheering. I'm glad you're getting scent from the sarcoccocas, can't smell a thing on mine this year!

Rose, those Daffodils are lovely, the Crocus too. I have never been able to smell the Sarcococca flowers.

Thanks Julia! I wasn't sure about cutting it back as it is so woody and didn't want to lose it.
I will do it but keeping my fingers crossed!
Thank you Balcony.
I do love yellow in my garden.
That's a shame Ange about your Sarcococca. I wonder why that is!
Oh dear Shirley, you as well!
I remember one year, I cut some stems off for the house but the scent was so strong, I got a bad head.

Rose, there are some public gardens near to us where for many years the entrance had a Sarcococca hedge.

I used to hear folk saying 'Oh, doesn't that smell lovely?' and I just scratched my head and thought 'What smell?' !!

That is so strange Shirley!

Thanks Klahanie.
Mine is in the shade too and doing really well there.

Rose, another strange one is that neither my departed Mum nor my OH can smell the fabulous scent of Freesias.

That's a shame Shirley!

Here I am at last Rose!!
I love to see daffodils and crocuses growing together. The colours are so pretty. Your hellebore is a beauty.
I too am very fond of sarcococca and I like choisya too so you will just have to nurture them both Rose.
You have lots of lovely colours in your garden and I know it is just the start of a beautiful year to come.

Thanks Chris! Hopefully the rain will stop at some point.
After telling you that I had sunshine the last two days, it is now raining again!! xx

Shirley, I can hardly smell them myself! 🙁

Daffs and crocus look nice together Rose, when the rain stops for five mins gives the petals a bit of a chance to show off, been looking around and things starting to happen, so another few weeks should be starting to get there a bit, one thing really gutted with is I have lost my wisteria tree, don't know why, but flowered the best ever last year, flowers died of as normal then leaves started coming out, then for some reason it caught my eye where all the leaves had withered, it didn't recover and that was a real shame, did try to look up possible causes but nothing came to light

Rose, your garden is so colourful, you've such a lovely, large selection of Spring blooms. I agree, the daffodils and crocus look perfectly pretty together!
I thought March would bring drier, finer weather here... we've had a couple of lovely days, but still raining a lot.

Oh Davey, I am sorry about your Wisteria tree.
Would it have been a frosty night that did it?
Was it very old? Maybe it flowered so well last year as it was coming to an end.
Not a clue really! I have never had one , but do love them.
Thanks for your comment.

Thanks Kate! Will this rain never end!!
I listened to Country File weather yesterday and it is going to be quite warm, up to 16 or even 17 degrees, but still may have rain!

Lovely to have a wander round your garden with you Rose, the daffs and crocus look lovely and really make you want to get on with some gardening, but like you all we are getting is rain. We did manage two or three decent mornings a few weeks back when I started on alterations in the front garden buying new plants and shrubs which have stayed in the pots waiting for the weather to be kinder, its just so frustrating. We have relatives visiting from Australia first week in April and I was hoping to be done by then but no matter they say they look forward to a little gardening even in the rain.

Thanks Stroller. It is frustrating, isn't it when I look out the window and see all the work I need to be getting on with.
I hope the weather will be better for your friends when they come over in April.
