My old white kitchen sink.

Hallo all. I think that this is the 3rd time that I have written about my old kitchen sink !….that I wanted to make into a small pond for the wild life in my garden..frogs etc etc. The problem that I had at first was to block the big plug hole up…until yesterday when my OH said why don´t you line it with a big rubbish bag.. the sink that is, not the plug hole…she´s not as daft as I thought she was!!!..hihi. So while having a sleepless night ( about the pond) I came up with how I would “make it”.
So at the crack of dawn this morning…about 7am ish I went down the garden and got it made.
I have added 4 photo´s how I did it..

1st photo..sink standing on some wooden legs,

2nd photo…sink lined with blue plastic rubbish bags, I realy don´t like the blue but we didn´t have any black ones of this size at home, before I put the bags in the sink..yes I cut up 2 bags to make it a little stronger I lined the bottom of the sink with a couple of layers of bubble wrap…just to be on the safe side. As the bags were a lot bigger that the sink I wound some wide sticky tape and plastic string round them to stop them moving.

3rd photo….sink in place with some old slates and stones and twigs and small branches to camouflage the blue bags…but unless the frogs etc can see in colour I don´t think that they mind if their new home has a blue touch about it.

4th photo…sink filled up with water…but you can still see some of those damm blue bags…I must go and put some more stones and pebbles to cover them up more.

Now all I can do is let nature take it´s time and let the “pond” mature. I have some ferns that are in small pots, I think I will put a couple of those on the edge…just to hide the blue bags!!!!!.

Hi Lulu. Thanks for the reply. I have now added a few more pebbles and pieces of slate to cover up the blue...and it is not leaking anymore!!!....thanks to my OH.

Is it in full sun? May go a bit green if so. I tried to shade my pond but takes a while for the plants to grow each year! Floating plants do the trick but then you can't see whats in it!!

Hallo Lulu, the pond is only in full sun early in the morning, this photo was taken around 7.30 am then by about 8.30 it gets the shade of the tamarisk and weigela for the rest of the day.
