Geums

Hello and welcome to Goy, good to hear you are getting over major surgery must have been a difficult time for you?
I love Geums but found they did not last from year to year. until I got a Geum Borisii which flowers all summer.
I would certainly welcome a suggestion for some pink ones ( love the Geum El Wano) and a few growing tips for my heavy clay?

Welcome from me too. I have 5 different Geums in my garden - the newest being Bell Bank and Dwarf Apricot Dingle.
I can see those Pictures starting a new addiction for some :))
I do like that Eden Valley Angel.
I like Drcs suggestion of some growing tips etc.

Thanks for the welcomes, yes it's been a pretty awful and difficult time for me, was recovering nicely from the op when i lost a younger brother in July to stomach cancer, and then there's been this terrible weather that we,ve all had to suffer. Having said that all this has made me more determined to get things done that i seem to have been putting off for years ie the website, and i've applied for Chelsea next year, something i'd never considered before.
As far as growing conditions go for Geums, i find that most of my introductions are pretty tolerant where they grow most being derived from Rivale, so they do just as well in shade as sun and will grow in most soils that are not constantly dry. They all survive the winters up here in Cumbria without any bother. Just add plenty of compost if you're planting them in Clay.
Sweet Angel Dar is a nice dusky pink or Stevie Nicks with it's double frilly edged petals. Then there's the ones featured above Toffee Apples and East Of Eden, both of which are good do'ers, and the lovely pink flushed Magic Toybox.

If you are aiming for Chelsea I think most of the exhibits are grown in Polytunnels ?

Didnt know our Stevie the Terrible had a Geum named after him. Ha ha.

My local nursery were at Chelsea for the first time this year - they won a Silver Gilt. He was over moon!
