Another day. The house nearest the road has a fairly new virginia creeper growing up the drainpipe at the front which has just started to turn, with a lovely contast of trailing bright red and bright green.
I’ve got a variety of virginia creeper on my wall, but it all changes colour at once, and, whilst eye-catching, isn’t so beautiful, and it doesn’t trail.
I managed to take a couple of pictures today and have uploaded them (or is it downloaded?) onto my page.
I was pleased with all the friendly comments, and will be visiting all your blogs in due course. Not sure how often, once the novelty wears off, I will be adding more, though it would be fun to write about all the different gardens.
I’ve got to have work done on my guttering soon, and I’m afraid my lovely leycestria, which I can see as I write, will probably fall foul of the scaffolding. It’s a shame, because the birds love it, bringing them close to my window. Robin, blackbird, wren, tits often. Once, wonderfully, goldfinches!
Sadly my hydrangea (in the back) has hardly any flowers this year. My pruning is always haphazard, and I obviously cut off the wrong bits at the wrong time this year. Pity, because the flowers stay all winter.

Thanks for the three photos posted - lovely. To be quite honest, readejahn, I do not like Leycesteria. Yes, I know that the birds like it - but I inherited three in this garden, and they drove me spare when the stems flopped everywhere and then Henry decided that he liked the berries as much as the birds. What a mess... :-( So - when we re-did the back garden, they went! The birds had the last laugh, though. They 'planted' a seed on top of the stream wall where I can't reach it - a healthy shrub is growing there! What did you do to your Hydrangea? You need to cut the flowered stems and the ones that didn't flower, back to a pair of healthy buds in the spring.
