Is it possible to get decent iceberg lettuce if sown now ?

My book tells me that Avoncrisp or Avon defiance should be set in early August. They list both as iceberg lettuce. They should be covered with cloches with closed ends in late September. Crop should be ready for cutting in Nov or Dec,
. I have no experience of these. Best of luck.
