Keeping deer away

I live in the northeast and have a terrible problem with deer. Does anyone have any home remedies that really seems to work?

You can buy dried lion dung - there are three firms listed on google. interestingly for those of us bothered by CATS, this seems to be recommended also for keeping our feline friends at bay. Wonder if it works?

Ha ha - I can just imagine my cat coming across a pile of lion dung and thinking - oh my god what made one that size!!!
