my garen is overgrown and has weeds and vegetation growing in it! i have been told by a few people that i can rip up the turf turn it over and re-turf over it is this true?

Not advisable as stuff like dandelions and buttercups would just grow through into the new turf. New lawns are best laid in either April or September so why not try to get the front garden weed free in time for Sept? You can't rush these things.
