I have a mature hibiscus plant in my garden,it is being covered in a yellow/grey litchen which is totally ruining the plant as it is unable to produce new leafs and flowers. Please help'

A photograph would be useful, but if its just lichen, that won't stop new leaves appearing, nor will it affect flowering. You can try washing it off with mild, or horticultural, soap and water if you don't like the look of it. Perhaps there is some other reason why your plant isn't growing as it should.
