Please help me in recalling the name of a very fragrant, early spring blooming bush/shrub that has a cluster of tiny white, (with a little pink) blossoms. People like to plant it near their front door as its' fragrance is so wonderful. It seems it started with a "d". I moved from Washington state where it would bloom in early March. It has a leaf like a Viburnum. It was very hardy- and after about 15 years it's stalk was about 3-4 inches. thick. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture. Thank you!

That's my guess, too. One like Daphne Transatlantica ’Eternal Fragrance', maybe? Just a guess, though.
Or, come to think of it, it might be one of the Viburnums - some of them are fragrant, too and have the clusters of tiny flowers you describe.

I was going to say Viburnum before I scrolled down to read Your answers, MG & O, though I would say they ARE fragrant, they aren't nearly so powerfully scented as Daphne - hadn't immediately thought of that one. Welcome, Sunnydaze!

do deutzia have a fragrance? mine fits the flower description but cant recall a fragrance.
daphne does sound to be the best bet too.

Yes! Daphne! Thank you for putting my mind at rest ~ I'm in New Hampshire now, so hopefully with some strategic area planting it'll make it up here. Thanks again!
