Hi, I am looking for a house plant as a present for my piano teacher that has a musical related name (i.e. something to do with pianos, jazz, blues, music in general)...do any exist?

How about Allamanda cathartica, although it is quite a vigorous vine type climber, tropical from Brazil, common name golden trumpet.

Intriguing question ... gets the grey cells working! Not sure about the house plant side of the question, but here's a few I thought about that could do well indoors on a light windowsill that won't burn them in high summer, ie not too much direct full on sun ... viola (scented now also available), trumpet lilly, hosta summer music ... will keep thinking ...

Clerodendrum incisum!
The common name is Musical Notes.
Best hope of finding one would be fleabay, and most will be in the US, but you may get lucky...........
It will need a conservatory though.
