bird of paradise

I have a bird of paradise into its second year with me.Been inside all winter and I've just noticed a bad whitefly problem - which I am treating initially with soap and water - we'll see! An unrelated problem seems to be curling of some leaves and splitting at the edges and going brown.Any ideas?

Use Roseclear for the first and add more water for the second.
