It is only hardy in zones 9-11. Atlanta is zone 7. This being said if you are the type that likes to do the extra bit, with protection every winter you could probably keep it going, if it dies back as long as it was well established and protected it should come back from the root. A really cold winter, below 10F, will probably kill it!
