Yes,Just ensure it is a fertiliser low in Nitrogen, If you get the proper fertiliser it will set your lawn up for a good start in spring. I usually scarify first then add about 1oz to 2 oz per sq yd

If you've maintained a feeding regime this spring/summer, its not essential - if you haven't fed it at all this year, then it's certainly worthwhile. Use something like Autumn Toplawn.
