They look like Osteospernums to me,Alastair..

I agree they're quite like Osteospermums but I think they're Arctotis.

I have both Gazania and Arctotis in my garden and going by the foliage I would say Gazanias as my Arctotis has longer leaved greyish/green foliage.

Hybrid Arctotis. Osteospermums lack the dark ring around the disk, and the hybrid Arctotis tend to have greener and shorter leaves than most of the species do.

Sorry Tugb I have just amended my entry as you can see. Just looked at the photo I posted of my Arctotis Hanna and they do not have a ring at all? So I am very baffled now? As Gazanias do have this ring.

Denise, you are absolutely right! Having been lightly shaken awake, I did some more research, and I now think that they are Venidium fastuosum hybrids, which, hopefully, a close-up of the leaves will confirm--unless I'm wrong again! ; )

I think we all got there in the end! they may even be Venidium fastuosum 'Jaffa Ice'?

Gold stars to Tug & Drc! ;-)

I think we all chipped in on this one Beattie. I am always fascinated when someone asks 'what is this'? A) we dont usually get photos as clear as this and B) my well intentioned answers can be so far off sometimes!

Not to worry,Denise..at least we tried to help Alistair, which is the whole point of questions.:o)
