As i have been advised on my previous problem with thrips living in the soil of my Aloe Vera plants, i will now ask ; Is it possible to take out the whole plant ,'wash ' it of soil and repot in in a fresh compost. Will this work , or will i then have a damaged plant ?

As long as you are careful and use room temperature water. Wave the roots around gently in the water to remove the compost, then carefully repot it making sure that you get compost in amongst all the roots and tap the pot gently to settle the soil around the roots. I'd use a soil based compost as the bugs don't seem so keen on it. Give it a water with weak insecticide for house plants to kill off any remaining bugs.
