I have had to cut my weigela right back, to ground level. Will this harm it in any way?

They're pretty good at re-growing, so I don't think you'll have any problems. Good luck.

Weigelas usually respond well to hard pruning, but I've never actually pruned one QUITE as hard as that. As you've already done it, let's hope that it recovers.

I had to do it that way, as it had become very woody and straggly, I hope it recovers too, I'll keep every thing crossed until next spring. Thanks for the advise.

I done something similar years ago and found it soon made it's way back. Although I would say that the shape was never quite so good! You could perhaps keep on top of that as it grows and try to shape it better.
