Squashes growing in growbags in greenhouse are growing well up to a point and then it looks as if something is eating the outer shiny rind and leaving the pith which then develops brown spots and goes mouldy. What is happening?

Check for snails or slugs, they hide away til night and then get to work!!

Thanks, tried that and no sign of them but I put down pellets anyway and something is still chewing!
