I have been given some lupins that have finished flowering and I want to collect the seeds the pods are still green ..do I take the seeds out of the pods or leave them in to dry out..and do I detatch the pods from the stem? thankyou

Answers

Better to leave them to ripen on plant and collect seeds after the pods are black, brittle and ready to burst by themselves.

Ok thankyou for that :) although they have already been cut off from the plant and are just attatched to the stem..shall I still leave them on?

Yes Kate leave them on the stem to dry out fully.

Thankyou Moon growe :) sorry 1 more question shall I wrap them in newspaper and do they have to be in a dark place?

Don't wrap them in newspaper, they need air around them to dry the seeds. Tie them together and hang them upside down somewhere cool and dry but not dark - they need light to dry off too. Keep a watch and as soon as the pods look like they are about to open harvest the seed. If you are really worried about losing the seed tie a paper, repeat paper, bag over the seeds heads.

Good luck, they are tough perennials so you should succeed!
