I have a plum tree and there were so many plums on it that the branch has snapped off bringing the plums down with it.Can I somehow ripen the plums- as one does with tomatoes? Or just I shall bin them-There are hundreds!

Many thanks for any help

You could try it I suppose, but most likely they'll rot before they ripen. Plum chutney? Next year, thin out the fruit by removing them to leave a 5cm gap between each fruit - do it by end of June. Fruits touching one another don't grow properly, nor ripen properly, and have an increased chance of fungal infection.

How do I say thanks?
