Help! We have just planted a liquidambar and the height on the label states that it reaches 5m, but having just looked online, most sites say it reaches 25m. We do not have the space for a tree this large....can this tree be pruned nicely and kept to a height of 5-8m or should we dig it up and get our money back??!!

It will take a century or so for a Liquidambar to reach 25 m in height. Most labels define a mature height as that the tree will have after growing for around 10 years, but don't often take into account trees that keep growing at a moderate rate for a long time.

Thank you for your reply, we've now decided to leave the tree where it is, and just hope it doesn't grow too big in our lifetime. Its too lovely a tree to get rid off!
