we had new turf laid in early october 2008 i was worried that with all the frost we have been getting this winter that it might kill the new turf.will our newly laid lawn survive this cold winter in england,please advise.

Welcome to GOY.
Snow has ammonia in it, good for greening up grass. If it gets covered in snow leave it, if you have little ones do not let them make a snowman on it.
I have just sown grass seed which is frosted, I am confident it will survive.
Just leave it and you should be alright.

I re-turfed a section of my lawn about that time last year and everything has been fine. I know we didn't have this sort of prolonged cold weather last year but if the grass was doing well before this cold snap then there is no reason for there to be a problem .
