hi can anybody tell me why all the leaves on my castor oil plant have wilted i have gave it plenty of water and feed but most of the leaves have dried up and gone black i have taken these off but now the plant looks a little bare even though it is 7 years old

It must be a false castor oil plant (Fatsia japonica) then. These don't like full sun, or heavy watering: Frequent watering increases their chance of getting Phyopthora root rot.

It might, or you may have to treat it with a soil fungicide. I have found Captan to be effective, but I don't know if that is available in the UK.
