Will my Hydrangea Red Teller do ok in deep shade as I have a lovely spot for my new one under 2 or 3 large fir trees?

They'll tolerate shade but not really dry conditions and under your fir trees it'll be dry because the trees roots will be taking all the moisture.
Better to plant dry and shade tolerant plants there - if i had that site to fill i'd like to use a perennial called Epimedium, there are loads of varieties to choose from.
