for named perennial varieties like bowle's mauve, chose a non flowering shoot about 4" long. remove the lower leaves 2" from the bottom and then place in compost around the edge of a 3" pot. I would get about 4/5 in a pot. keep moist but not too wet. This is a good time of year to start taking them.
