I would like to plant some bushes to screen off my neighbours.Low maintenance and hardy, about 2M tall and with some colour.
What are the options please ?

Do you have a wall or fence there in the meantime? How about some climbers? I bought some nice Euonymus 'Green Rocket's to hide my fence (have a look on my pics) they're columnar so grow up rather than out and they're everygreen and slightly verigated.
Maybe have a search for everygreen shrubs.....

I don't know how high is your fence but Forsythia and Camelia names come to mind.

Some berberis have dark red leaves and make a dense if prickly hedge. Some have small green leaves and yellow flowers.

I have an escallonia that does that job well in one area of the garden. Coming into flower now with white flowers but you can get red ones too.
