can some one help me please? Being all new to this gardening I got a bit excited and have done things totally the wrong way around.I potted on Lupins into 9 cm pots last week and have been hardening them off.As you can see from my previous question I am wanting to create a small cottage garden but have a long way to go in preparing the soil and wanted advice on what to do next with these Lupins to keep them going..they are only tiny at the moment..we are hoping to prepare the ground within the next 2 weeks..shall I leave them in these pots or move them on once more into bigger ones.Thankyou

They are very small and can be kept in those pots for a while. You will know when they need to be potted on. I doubt they will flower this year and my what a lot you've got. I only have one lupin in my garden and it is about 2ft tall and has had about 6 flower spikes on it.

Those are very immature plants and will take a year or so reach a good size, i wouldn't put them into larger pots for a while yet because they are large pots already, in larger ones their roots will flounder around in all the soil - they need to fill the pot with roots before you think of moving them up a size yet.

No need to do anything. They have plenty of space for more growing in the pots they are in now. Too young to be planted in the garden and need to grow on a bit more where they are now.

If Anything they are over potted, in other words in pots to big for them, just let them be for the moment. You 'may' be able to plant into the ground in autumn though I doubt it at the size they are. Otherwise keep somewhere frost free over winter.

I am so jealous of your Lupins quantity. I sowed dozens of seeds last year and have only got just one plant out of them. I hope this one flowers next year.
