I have a problem with my newly turfed lawn-it was laid about a month ago on new topsoil with compost soil under that-I found toadstools growing in the lawn today!-why and what do I do?

Nothing to worry about - sometimes they come in with the new turf. Nothing you can do about them, they'll pass after a couple of weeks. If you don't like the way they look, twist them off as they appear - they're only the fruiting bodies of an underground root system which is present year round.
