my primroses seem to be rotting from the middle, they go powdery & there is a slimy mess underneath, any auggestions, please?

They were too soft in their growth, may have been caught by the frost and with some hybrids not hardy.
Their natural habitat is dry woods or banks.

The powder is probably some kind of mildew. You may have planted them too deeply and the crown rotted.
