I am looking for a deep almost purple/black box like hedging plant, I seem to be seeing them in local gardens, but have yet to establish what they are called, and or where to buy them, I would like two to grow in pots on the patio, for a formal entrance look, where my bay trees sufficed for many years, that was up until our horrid winter. Thanks to let me know please can anyone help !!

I cannot think what they might be, there is no dark leaved Box - can you photograph the ones you're seeing and post it on here? I'm wondering if what you're seeing is Berberis thunbergii atropurpureum 'nana' if they're low hedges, or just atropurpureum if taller - these are deciduous.
