I had a plague of these a few years back now, but not since. You'll have to do what my old dad used to do (he was an exhibition dahlia grower). In his case, he'd have an empty pot full of straw upside down on a cane next to the dahlia plants - you need to leave about empty pots with straw or similar inside them - they'll hide in there, and every morning you have to have a bucket of water, and upend the pots over the bucket so the earwigs fall into the water. I can't remember how much straw he got through, because obviously it all gets wet from ending up in the bucket...

There are insecticides which do kill them if you are into using poison. I can just about manage to deal with them in the garden, but in the house ..............no way, that is a job for the boss.
Rats, mice, bees,wasps, burglars no trouble but earwigs...........shudder.

My dad use to poor boiling water on them, but I do remember the upturned pots too and it does work. Lucky me has never had them

Although earwigs can damage plants, they also eat small pests and their eggs, including aphids and codling moths, which attack apple and pear trees, whilst I don't like them if it is a toss up between them and vine weevils... I know which one I'll accept.
