Broken Clematis. I was fiddling around with one of my Clematis, trying to make it go where I wanted it to, and I managed to break the main stem, about 18 inches broke off. Will it shoot from the break?

That happened to me a couple of years ago but it had amazing blooms later and it carried on even in Nov.

It should do, but I would trim it back to a healthy bud. You should if possible try for more than 1 stem in case it contracts Clematis wilt. Your inadvertant pruning might encourage it to throw up another stem, so there will be a silver lining to the cloud.
