I have two bay trees. They have been in the back garden since last year and were thriving. I have moved them to the front garden and the leaves have now turned brown and brittle ? They both look dead but is there any way to bring them back to life. Any advice appreciated. Sorry everyone....They are both in pots and I live in Cheshire. They were actually moved just before xmas...thanks

I have had one in my front garden for 15 years. It is about 20 feet high. After the winter this year it looks as dead as the proverbial dodo. You don't say where you are but as most of the country had the coldest December in over 100 years then I suspect that that is the problem for both of us. No sign of new leaves developing yet on mine but I shall just let it be over the summer and hope. I also lost a load of other plants that have been fine but I thought the bay was totally hardy. The only thing that is kicking back in is the pampas grass, and it is darn nigh impossible to kill that.

When you say you've moved them to the front, when did you do that? And are they in pots or planted in the ground, and were they in pots or in the ground before you moved them. And also, which part of the country are you in?

How do I say thanks?
