difficult to say for sure, some of my xmas trees(nordmanniana) look the same at the moment, info on how long you have had it would help with guessing i.d.and growth size, and if you didn't plant it then the position it is in will help to give you a better idea,i think you might be right it looks like a yew, some grow huge so position is important.

Looking at shape and leaves it does look like a young Abies Nordmanniana. Am certain it is not Yew (Taxus Baccata) as they have flatter leaves and are darker green colour. Abies Nordmanniana grow very tall quite quickly, so I would pot and and restrict the roots if you want to dwarf it.

Does it grow Mauve cones Paul, and the leaves are quite hard, I think mine has a silver look now its older underneath the branches too. I had mine in a tub for about 3 years, but now its growing in the front garden, and it must be about 4 and a half to 5ft tall now. It is really lovely now, ...a lovely shape. I will search for it in my photos and come back to you.

The cones are beautiful, they are the long cone, Im sure I've got a photo of them somewhere amongst my collection. There is another one on page 41, but that ones not as good.
