Fatsia pruning

I notice all the comments say to prune in the spring. I want to do it now (late Sept). Will that be harmful?

I am no expert on this subject but I have a fatsia japonica that has been in my garden for about 20 years now. If parts get a bit too tall or too wide I lop off bits at any time of year and it has been no problem. But that's always light pruning. I have never cut it right back hard.

I only want to take a foot off the top, so that may be okay. Thanks.

You might lose the October flowers if you prune now so it depends if you're fussed about that. If it's multi-trunked you won't lose all of them though.

How do I say thanks?
