Why is a Magnolia tree flowering in September?

I have inheited 2 magnolias - different types and they are both flowering now.

Spring-flowering magnolias often do this. Don't worry, just enjoy the show

It may also be that you have a grandiflora magnolia which flowers much later than the rest. M. grandiflora has brown felty backs to its leaves.
