Spain Es

my physalis is planted in a sunny spanish garden but doesnt seem to be doing well shall i leave it and hope for better things next year or cut it back

It's worth a try, since it's normally an easy and forgiving plant. A few things to watch out for: summer high temperatures over 35 C will require some afternoon shade for the plant, especially in drought and/or low humidity. It can take somewhat poor soil, but there are limits--some compost and a little alfalfa meal can take it from "survive" to "thrive" mode.
