Must Amarylis bulbs be planted straight away? Or can they be stored in a paper bag for a couple of months so as to be given as Christmas presents? Will they get fungusy if I keep and store them? I have three which arrived in the post yesterday.

All those Amaryllis that are going to be bought and given as Christmas pressies are probably already in plastic bags and boxes in warehouses now and should be OK, so I don't see any reason why yours wouldn't be just as OK with you. I'd keep them cool and dry in the meantime - Merry Christmas!
