Hadrian, would it work if someone cut your head off and put another one in its place? Same in this case, I'm afraid. Grafting can be done in some circumstances, but it needs to be done on smaller twigs and branches, lining up the different layers in the wood and closing the wound carefully. It's more like transplant surgery than stacking chairs.
