I can’t understand why this question was refused by Gardeners world website…. It seems fairly innocuous to me:
I’ve protected my brassicas from the cabbage white butterflies with enviromesh. This has worked well, and now I’m wondering….how long do I have to keep them covered?
Is it until the butterflies have hibernated, or whatever they do! in the autumn? Or is there a time when they stop being a pest?
Thank you for any help.

I suspect enviromesh is a named product and goes against BBC rules of advertising.

Thank you for the replies.
I did wonder if it was because I had mentioned enviromesh.
When do the butterflies stop laying eggs? I think the plants will soon be too tall to stay under the mesh.

Bad news on egg laying
"Cabbage White Butterflies will lay eggs either twice or three times a year if the weather is favourable, with the last egg-laying of the year being in late August to September. "

Good to leave the netting over your brassicas to keep the wood pigeons at bay.

they will keep flying and laying eggs through out the summer, so you will have to leave it on to protect your crops.
