Mystery plant. I didn't plant this, and not sure if I want to keep it. I'd be very grateful if anyone can give me an ID.

Thanks Eileen, that’s what my gardening friend thought today, but if I give it away it would be really good to know which variety!

Sheila, might it be Salvia nemorosa 'Sallyrosa Jumbo Pink'? Have a look at images on-line.

Thanks Shirley. At the moment the flowers are chunky rather than tall, but maybe they’ll look different in a week or so. I’ll let you know!

I thought the flowers were bugs at first!

I bought a salvia nemorosa at Nyman's Gardens this year and it certainly looks very similar. I agree it isn't exactly spectacular but I was told it is excellent for bees. It is just opening the florets now so I'm hoping it might look prettier in a few days time!

Thanks Penny. I quite like it but have acquired 3 clumps, so it evidently seeds itself proficiently! I expect I'll donate one of them to a gardening friend.
