I know it's not a very clear picture but in my four raised beds there are lots of these in the compost and can't get rid of them.
I fork through the compost carefully and find them and then get rid of them.
Any ideas what I can do?

Rose, that looks like the grub of a Vine Weevil and I found this information for you:

Use biological controls – nematodes are effective in killing the larvae in the soil, both in beds and containers, during the warmer months when the soil is at least 5°C. Apply a liquid drench to the compost – this kind of pesticide can be applied to compost in containers and will control the larvae.

Ditto for vine weevil grubs. If it's a large area, you may find nematodes an expensive option.

Can you try to encourage birds & beetles to get them?

Thanks Shirley and Grandad gardener. As my raised beds are in a part of the garden where birds don't go Grandad G, I think I will have to use nematodes.

I agree it's vine weevil. Vine Weevil Killer will only really work in containers. Nematodes will kill them off but they will come back from other parts of the garden. I have them on Cornus and Heucras but little else. So, I would say that the best idea is to find out which species of plant you intend to grow are not suseptable to Vine Weevil attack.Could be helpfull to go out at night with a torch and jar and collect them. An Internet search will give advice on suseptable plants.
