We have been invaded by alien beans, can anyone identify them?
We always save our own bean seeds for planting the following year, but this year two of the bean plants in our row of borlotti beans have produce beans we have never seen before.
They are climbers, with a 6" green pod which has blue grey streaks.
We have no clue what they are, do you?

Thanks for the input, I don't think its a runner, its more round, not as rough and much shorter.
We've not looked at the seeds yet, but they feel smaller, more like a french bean.
We had minus 7c on Saturday so I guess the frost has took them now so we will open them soon, it might give us another clue.

it could just be natural variation in the bean . due to your collecting seed yr on yr you are more likely to end up with an original 'parent'/wild type bean. any varieties are as a result of breeding programmes over decades. in a away you have possibly done it in reverse :o))
