Last year I started growing the very pretty Vasterival Aster...it grew so well that I would like to divide it this Spring...there is very tiny new growth beginning. Should I wait until it puts on more growth before I do this ?

Root growth is more important than top growth when it comes to dividing plants. So, if there are plenty of new roots on the pieces you want to take then go for it.

I agree, with owd, now is a good time to do it. But perhaps leave it another year to really settle in and put more growth on. You will then have a bigger plant to divide.

How do I say thanks?
