Gertrude Jekyll rose - whether to prune down short or not and when?
Has flowered generously for first time after transfer into v. large pot.
Bought as "bush", but seems to want to wander!

Hard pruning is very important ...both in the spring and after the first flush of flowers, to keep this rose growing well and not getting out of control. Prune the canes to 1-3 feet and the laterals to 1-3 buds in the spring. After the first flush of flowers, prune it hard again.
