On my Cordyline Australis there are 11, 1 to two inch stems/branches growing from the base,is it safe to cut all but the strongest off? to tidy the plant up, I would like to make a centre stem if possible.

I would think that would be a good idea. The stronger shoots will benefit & get all the energy.
