Hi, has anyone a magnolia grandiflora? Mine has had 1 flower this year, its 7 yrs old now, wondering if it's likely to have more in future years? TIA

I worked for a hotel which had a magnificent one in the grounds and a new manager decided it was too tall and made the gardeners chop it back. It had dinner plate sized flowers which I think smelled wonderful but it didn't produce any more for a good seven or eight years afterwards.
